Before you paint

Will it look chalky?

Pearlescent paint sits on the surface more than regular watercolor, and that's what gives it its shine. If a color looks too opaque, add water: a thinner layer lets the color underneath show through while keeping the shimmer.

Does the shimmer stay once it's dry?

Yes. The pearl finish shows once the paint has dried, and it's easiest to see when the light hits the page at an angle.

Does it show on dark paper?

Pearlescent colors usually stand out on dark paper, because the shine contrasts with the background. Some shades read stronger than others, so try a color on a scrap first.

Is it safe for kids?

The formula is non-toxic. As with any paint, younger children should paint with an adult nearby, and brushes stay out of mouths.

Can I take it outside?

Yes. The case is easy to carry and the lid works as your palette, so all you need to bring is water and a brush.
